I&#39;m not sure why there is so much negativity aimed at this movie. I enjoyed every second of the movie and would definitely watch it again.<br/><br/>Yes the story line is predictable and we all know what the outcome is going to be, but don&#39;t we know that already is most animated movies?<br/><br/>I thought it was an inspiring story and gives out the message that if we treat people well , and help people, then good things can come your way when you need it, which works out well for dusty when everyone gives him spare parts for the goodness he shown them and the courage he shown making the journey.<br/><br/>It teaches the lesson you can be what you want and you don&#39;t have to be told what you are and i like that.

A plane that is afraid of heights? Really, is that all you could come up with... <br/><br/>That&#39;s like a car that&#39;s afraid of a freeway. This is only going to be enjoyed by children under 10, if even that. Bob the builder is better, seriously. <br/><br/>Summary: Jokes were not funny - Every line was trying too, too hard - Any effort to give the characters life fall very, very short - Action scenes were boring and predictable - It was like drinking a flat soda, no spark or fizz from start to finish. <br/><br/>Well, I feel like I have put more effort into this review than it deserves! Which is more than I can say for the film.<br/><br/>UGH, I want my time back please!

&#39;PLANES&#39;: Two Stars (Out of Five)<br/><br/>Spin-off of Pixar&#39;s &#39;CARS&#39; films produced by DisneyToon Studios (without Pixar&#39;s involvement). It&#39;s the first of a &#39;PLANES&#39; trilogy and follows the adventures of a cropduster plane who follows his dreams of becoming a racer and competes in the &#39;Wings Across the World&#39; race (despite his fear of heights). The film was executive produced and co-written (with Klay Hall and Jeffrey M. Howard) by John Lasseter (who directed the &#39;CARS&#39; films and is Pixar&#39;s chief creative officer). Hall also directed the film (his previous directing experience is in TV animation mostly). The movie was originally intended as a direct-to-video release (like most DisneyToon films) but Disney was so impressed with the end results that they decided to release it theatrically instead. It plays more like a direct-to-video movie (or even an animated TV release).<br/><br/>Dane Cook stars as the voice of Dusty Crophopper, a cropduster plane who&#39;s afraid of heights but has always dreamed of being a race plane. Brad Garrett and Terri Hatcher voice his buddies, Chug (a fuel truck) and Dottie (a forklift mechanic), who help him on his adventure. Stacy Keach plays the voice of an old navy war plane, named Skipper Riley, who teaches Dusty how to race. Roger Craig Smith plays the voice of Dusty&#39;s rival, Ripslinger, (as well as other voices). Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Priyanka Chopra, John Cleese, Cedric the Entertainer, Sinbad, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards and many others also voice characters in the film.<br/><br/>There&#39;s pretty much nothing to the movie at all (unlike &#39;CARS&#39; and other Pixar films). It&#39;s just a shameful way for Disney to sell more toys and kids&#39; clothes; so it&#39;s no surprise that they&#39;re planning to build a trilogy out of the concept. Hopefully the next two installments will go direct-to-video where they belong. I just saw another animated kids&#39; movie (at about the same time) with a similar underdog race story, called &#39;TURBO&#39;, that is so much better made and has a lot more to offer kids and adults alike.
